The Alzheimer's Association of Greater Cincinnati began in 1979 as a family support group for
caregivers, relatives and friends of individuals with Alzheimer's disease. It became affiliated with the national Alzheimer's Association in 1980, was granted chapter status in 1983 and now serves a 27-county area in Southern Ohio,
Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana. It is estimated that there are 44,000 individuals with Alzheimer's disease or a related disorder within the Greater Cincinnati Chapter territory.
Bark Ark Bully Rescue is a nonprofit organization located in the Cincinnati area, working to
save the lives of dogs in high kill shelters, primarily in Ohio and neighboring states. We are a completely volunteer organization and we can\'t do it without you. Please consider volunteering, fostering, adopting or donating to help
us. We could not continue our work if not for generous people like yourself. One hundred percent of every donation given will help save the life of a deserving animal.
Casting for Recovery is a national nonprofit support and educational program for women who have
or have had breast cancer. We provide an opportunity for women whose lives have been profoundly affected by the disease to gather in a beautiful, natural setting and learn fly fishing, a sport for life. Just as importantly, we offer an
opportunity to meet new friends and have fun.
Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate
substandard housing by building simple, decent, affordable homes to sell to low-income families in need. Cincinnati Habitat works in equal partnership with families, volunteers and donors building a sense of community as well as
affordable housing.
A great way to support the Cincinnati Zoo is by volunteering. We have volunteers of all ages, from 13
to 95! There are volunteer opportunities in many areas of the Zoo, including: education, horticulture, special events, clerical work, ambassadors and craft making or working with CREW, our research facility. Volunteers receive many
special privileges including educational opportunities, social events with other volunteers, discounts at our restaurants and gift shops, and the monthly newsletter specifically for volunteers.
Easter Seals Work Resource Center empowers individuals with disabilities and disadvantages to increase
their independence through employment. Our organization has extensive experience in creating opportunities for nearly 12,000 people with disabilities and disadvantages each year to gradually transition into the workforce and experience
career success. Our goal is to give each participant work skills that allow him or her to be self-sufficient for life.
The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network strives to assure that each member of every school community
is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. GLSEN Cincinnati is one of more than 40 chapters nationwide of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network.
Hoxworth Blood Center is the only blood center for the greater Cincinnati area. Serving a 17-county area
in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, Hoxworth collects, tests, processes and distributes blood and blood components to 32 hospitals and medical centers. Hoxworth needs to collect blood from 350 volunteer blood donors and 40 volunteer platelet
donors each day meet the needs of Tri-state patients.
Since 1995, KFK has invested nearly 0,000 into improving the outlook of the children it serves and
positively impacted over 40,000 young lives in the process. Former Bengals kicker Doug Pelfrey started the charity as a result of his passion to help kids and his commitment to the community in which he lives.
Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly is a national, nonprofit, volunteer-based
organization committed to relieving isolation and loneliness among the elderly. We offer to people of goodwill the opportunity to join the elderly in friendship and celebration of life. We feel that love and dignity and beauty in life
are as basic as physical needs.
We are a nonprofit organization that serves as the contact center for literacy programs in the
Tri-state area. Our service area includes eight counties: Hamilton, Clermont, Butler and Warren in Ohio; Kenton, Campbell and Boone in Kentucky; and Dearborn in Indiana. We work with a coalition of more than 100 literacy-provider
agencies and more than 30 schools to improve lives throughout the region.
The Music Resource Center is a multi-faceted music education center for teenagers in
Cincinnati. The center uses the recording and performing arts to create a sense of empowerment and accomplishment in the urban community. The mission of the Music Resource Center is to educate and inspire urban youth and through music
equip them with life skills for the future. We accomplish this mission through music education and performance opportunities, as well as life skills mentoring.
The O'Bryonville Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, volunteer run organization. We
promote non-lethal control for feral cat colonies and humane methods to reduce the population of feral cats. In addition, we work to socialize those cats and kittens and place them in well-screened homes. OAR has made a difference in
the lives of over thousands of abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens by placing them in loving homes.
Pink Ribbon Girls was founded when Tracie Metzger and Dawn Harvey realized there was no specific
group for young women dealing with breast cancer. Through this nonprofit organization, young women are offered education and awareness for early detection, support and an outlet to express fears. The topics of discussion at group
meetings include dating, caring for young children while undergoing treatment, fitness and nutrition. Pink Ribbon Girls has a national, searchable database, providing a way for people to connect with other young women with similar life
circumstances.
Save Our Strays was founded in 1998 to reduce pet overpopulation in the Cincinnati area through
non-lethal, humane methods. Inspired by national groups like Alley Cat Allies, our primary focus was initially trap-neuter-release (TNR) of feral and stray cat populations in the area. In more recent years, we have also started offering
to the public low-cost spaying/neutering at one of the local veterinary hospitals we're partnered with. While we have fewer foster homes currently for dogs, we also will take in stray dogs or pull dogs from death row at high-kill
shelters as often as space in our foster homes allows.
St. Jude is unlike any other pediatric treatment and research facility. Discoveries made here have
completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. With research and patient care under one roof, St. Jude is where some of today's most gifted researchers are able to do science more quickly.
Stepping Stones Center is a nonprofit United Way partner agency that serves close to 1,000 adults
and children with disabilities annually, offering year-round services at two locations. The mission of Stepping Stones Center is to increase independence, improve lives and promote inclusion for children and adults with disabilities.
In 10 counties throughout Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana, United Way brings
our communities together to advance the common good. In addition, more than 20,000 volunteers serve on committees and help set priorities, budget funds, evaluate outcomes, supervise audits and raise money. Without their help, we would
